Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 6 October 2026  |  Operator: Tax Monitor ("we", "us", "our"), accessible via the Tax Monitor browser extension and the web portal at https://www.taxhindi.com/taxman
By creating an account, logging in, subscribing to, downloading, installing, accessing or using the Tax Monitor browser extension and the associated web portal (together, the "Service"), you ("you", "User", "your") acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (the "Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service, and you must not tick the acceptance checkbox or proceed with login or signup.

1. Description of the Service

  1. Tax Monitor is a productivity and practice-management tool designed for chartered accountants, tax practitioners, consultants, their staff and their clients. It helps organise and automate routine GST and tax-compliance work.
  2. Subject to your subscription and role, the Service may include, without limitation: maintaining a register of taxpayers (GSTINs and related profile data); downloading and viewing return data and filing status from the GST portal (including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2A and GSTR-2B); reconciliation of returns; notices and alerts; fee/ledger bookkeeping; task management; e-mail and notice classification; reports, dashboards and analytics; and secure synchronisation of this data between your browser extension and the web portal.
  3. The Service is a private, independent software product. It is not owned, operated, endorsed, sponsored or affiliated with the Government of India, the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), the GST Council, the Income Tax Department, the Reserve Bank of India or any other statutory authority. Use of the Service does not create any relationship with such authorities.
  4. We may modify, add or remove features, change limits or subscriptions, or update the extension from time to time. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated functionality and these Terms.

2. Nature of Service — Productivity Tool Only

  1. The Service is provided solely as a productivity tool. It does not, and is not intended to, provide legal advice, tax advice, accounting advice, auditing services, certification, or any professional opinion of any kind. Nothing in the Service constitutes a professional opinion or a substitute for advice from a qualified professional retained by you.
  2. The Service does not file any return, form, challan or application on your behalf and does not submit anything to any government authority. All filings, payments, registrations and communications with any authority remain your sole act and responsibility.
  3. Information displayed by the Service is fetched, stored or computed for your convenience and record-keeping. We do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, up-to-date or error-free. Portal data can change, be amended or be withdrawn by the source system at any time. You must independently verify all data, computations, due dates and statuses before relying on them for any filing, payment, advice or decision.
  4. Due dates, default interest, late fees, match results and similar outputs are indicative, computed from the data available to the Service and from rules configured at that time. The responsibility for ascertaining the correct due date, liability and applicable provisions remains solely yours.
  5. Continuity, availability and correctness of data depend on third-party systems (including the GST portal, internet connectivity, browser APIs and e-mail providers) that are outside our control. The Service may be interrupted, delayed or incomplete when such systems are unavailable or change their structure.

3. Your Consent to Storage of Data on Our Server

  1. By using the extension you expressly consent and authorise that data processed by the extension is transmitted to, stored on and processed by our servers so that it can be synchronised, backed up, and made available to you across the extension and the web portal, and so that the features of the Service can operate at all.
  2. Such data includes, without limitation: taxpayer profile data (GSTIN, legal name, trade name, contact details, registration details); return data, filing status, ARN and dates fetched from the portal; notices, orders and correspondence; fees and ledger entries; tasks, reports, alerts, preferences, subscription and usage information; and — where the credential-storage feature is enabled — your portal login credentials as described in Section 5.
  3. This consent covers storage, transmission, indexing, backup, retrieval, modification (for normalisation, de-duplication, search and display) and deletion of the above data on our infrastructure, for the duration of your account and a reasonable period thereafter, for the purposes of operating and improving the Service and providing you support.
  4. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the Support facility in the application. Some data may be retained for a limited period thereafter where required for backups, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, billing records or by applicable law.
  5. Where the data belongs to your clients or any other person, you confirm that you are acting lawfully in relation to that data and have all necessary permissions and consents to collect it and to have it stored on our servers as described above.

4. Authorisation to Fetch Data from the GST Portal — Your Responsibility

  1. The Service can log in to the GST portal (https://www.gst.gov.in) and other government portals using credentials provided by you, and fetch data on your behalf. By supplying any credentials to the Service, you give your express permission and authorisation for the Service to use those credentials to authenticate, navigate and download data from the portal, and you instruct us to process the resulting data as described in these Terms.
  2. The responsibility of obtaining, holding and exercising valid permission or authority to access any portal account is entirely yours. You represent and warrant that for every account you connect to the Service you are either (i) the registered taxpayer or authorised user of that GSTIN/portal account, or (ii) a professional duly authorised by that taxpayer (for example as a chartered accountant, tax return preparer, authorised representative or employee) to access, view and process its data, and that such authorisation is valid under the applicable laws and the portal's terms of use.
  3. You are solely responsible for compliance with the terms of use, acceptable-use policies, rate limits and technical rules of each portal you connect, and for any consequences of the manner in which you use the Service to access such portals, including any restriction, suspension or show-cause action against your portal account.
  4. You must not supply credentials for any account you are not authorised to access, and must not use the Service to access, scrape or monitor any system without permission. We may suspend access to the Service if we reasonably believe that credentials have been supplied or data is being accessed without lawful authority.
  5. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Tax Monitor account, of your portal credentials and of your device. Please use the credential-encryption feature described in Section 5 to protect stored portal passwords.

5. Encryption of Credentials and Security of Data

  1. Portal credentials are encrypted. When you enable the credential key feature, portal user IDs and passwords are encrypted inside the extension before they are saved to your browser storage or synchronised to our server, using strong industry-standard symmetric encryption (AES-256-GCM) with a randomly generated key that is held on your device and is known only to you. The key can be exported and re-imported only by you. Without the key, synchronised credentials cannot be read.
  2. Where encryption has been applied, the server stores only ciphertext (with an explicit marker indicating encryption) and never receives your encryption key. If the key feature is not enabled, credentials are stored in a less protected state — we therefore strongly recommend enabling the key and downloading a backup of it.
  3. Data in transit between the extension, the web portal and our servers is protected using TLS/HTTPS. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel, is logged, and is granted on a need-to-know basis.
  4. We apply reasonable technical and organisational security measures designed to protect your data against accidental loss, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. No system is completely secure, and we do not guarantee absolute security; you remain responsible for securing your own devices, browsers, e-mail accounts and backups.
  5. In the event of a personal-data breach affecting you, we will take reasonable steps to contain, investigate and notify you and the applicable authorities as required under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or other applicable law.

6. No Sale or Sharing of Your Data with Third Parties

  1. We do not sell, rent, trade, licence or share your data — including personal data, taxpayer data, portal credentials, returns, notices or documents — with any third party for their marketing, advertising, analytics, resale or any other commercial purpose. Your data is not a product and is never monetised.
  2. Data is processed only by our own systems and by a limited set of infrastructure service providers that we engage strictly to operate the Service (for example: web hosting, database hosting, e-mail delivery for OTPs and notifications, payment processing for subscriptions, and error monitoring). Such providers process data only on our instructions, are bound by confidentiality and security obligations, and may not use your data for their own purposes.
  3. We may disclose data only where required to do so by law, or by an order, summons, notice or request of a competent government authority, regulator or court, or where necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, or to prevent fraud, abuse or a security incident. Where legally permissible, we will notify you of such disclosure.
  4. We may transfer data in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to the acquirer continuing to protect the data in accordance with these Terms and applicable law, and to your right to close your account.
  5. We do not read, mine or use the contents of your returns, notices, credentials or documents to train third-party artificial-intelligence models, nor do we allow any third party to do so.

7. Your Legal Liability under Laws of India

  1. You agree that you use the Service at your own risk and that you alone are liable for compliance with all provisions of every Act, rule, regulation, scheme, circular, notification and instruction issued by the Government of India or any State Government or any authority thereunder in connection with anything done by you using the Service.
  2. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, this includes (as applicable): the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the rules made under them; the Income-tax Act, 1961 and the rules made under it; the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it; the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023; the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002; the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999; the Companies Act, 2013; the Stamp Act, 1899 and applicable State stamp laws; and all rules, regulations, circulars, directions, judgments and orders of courts and authorities, including the terms of use of the GST portal and other portals you access.
  3. You are solely responsible for: the lawfulness and accuracy of every data item you enter, import, upload or cause to be fetched; obtaining and retaining every consent, authorisation, resolution and power-of-attorney required from your clients or any other person whose data you handle; meeting every due date; paying every tax, fee, interest and penalty; keeping adequate records; and maintaining professional standards and ethics applicable to you in your capacity (including under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, the Cost Accountants Act, 1959, the Company Secretaries Act, 1980, the Bar Council Act, 1961 or any other professional body governing you, as applicable).
  4. The Service is an aid to your work; it does not transfer, reduce or share any statutory, professional or contractual liability of yours in any manner. Any default, penalty, prosecution, late fee, interest, disallowance, notice or action arising out of data fetched, computed, displayed or missed by the Service is your responsibility to address.
  5. You agree to indemnify us and keep us harmless against any claim, proceeding, loss, damage, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (i) your use of the Service, (ii) your breach of these Terms, (iii) your breach of any law or of any third party's rights, including privacy and intellectual-property rights, or (iv) any data or credentials supplied by you.

8. Accounts, Subscriptions and Payments

  1. You must provide accurate information, keep it updated, and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account and must notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.
  2. Certain features are available only against an active subscription. Plan features, limits and prices are displayed at the time of purchase. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated by us.
  3. Payments may be collected through third-party payment gateways. Such gateways process payments under their own terms and privacy policies; we receive only the confirmation and status of your payment.
  4. We may suspend or terminate access for non-payment, abuse, fraud, or breach of these Terms, in accordance with Section 11.

9. Acceptable Use

You must not use the Service to:

10. Intellectual Property

  1. The Service — including the extension, source code, interfaces, designs, text, graphics, logos, documentation, schemas and models — is the proprietary property of the Operator and is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose during your subscription.
  2. Except as expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense or create derivative works of any part of the Service.
  3. The data you upload or fetch remains yours (and, where applicable, your clients'). You grant us only the licence needed to process that data to operate the Service, as set out in Section 3.
  4. Feedback you provide may be used to improve the Service without obligation to you.

11. Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability and Termination

  1. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or that it will meet your requirements or any regulatory requirement.
  2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither we nor our directors, employees or contractors shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, filings, savings or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
  3. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the subscription fees paid by you to us for the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or Rupees one thousand (₹1,000), whichever is greater.
  4. Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as applicable.
  5. Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, if your subscription remains unpaid, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination your licence ends and you must stop using the Service; you may request export or deletion of your data before closing your account.
  6. Sections 2, 3(c)–(e), 4, 5(d), 6, 7, 10, 11, 12 and 13 survive termination.

12. Changes to These Terms

  1. We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the Service, technology or law. The current version with its effective date will always be available at this page.
  2. Material changes will be notified to you through the application, by e-mail, or by requiring you to accept the Terms again at login or signup. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of them. If you do not accept, you must stop using the Service and close your account.
  3. The date on which you accepted these Terms at login or signup is recorded with your account as evidence of your consent.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  1. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or with the Service are governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
  2. Subject to any mandatory consumer protections available to you, the courts at New Delhi, Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to the venue and jurisdiction of such courts.
  3. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force, and the unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
  4. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  5. These Terms, together with our Privacy practices described in Sections 5 and 6 and any subscription terms presented at purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and us concerning the Service and supersede all prior agreements on the subject.
